From the past two weeks. Mostly from photos but some from life. I can’t get my scanner to work with my new computer but that’s probably because it’s almost ten years old and the cord is worn out. The scanner I used for some of these looks like it’s only meant to be used on black and white text and I tried taking pictures with a camera but they get all distorted. Hrrrghh.

Also I’ve been watching a let’s play of the game Heavy Rain for the past two hours. The game is surprisingly engaging for something that is essentially one huge quick time event sequence, though there are a few sections so far that consist of nothing but repetitive and seemingly meaningless tasks only included to lengthen the play time. I guess these parts might seem a little more exciting if I were actually playing the game, but I kind of doubt brushing my teeth in a video game would be anymore exciting than it is in real life. The story so far is amazing though. It’s much more like watching an interactive movie than a game. I really want to watch more now but it’s already 3 am and if I start watching again, I’ll probably be up until 5:30 or 6.

And then I bought some Sharpies, and life was never the same again. Some of the gestures I did on 7/28. I did so many that day I was sooo booored.

Some of the gestures from this past week. All from photos as usual, but most of them were untimed. I have 2 hours and 45 minutes of waiting around on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays before my class starts at 12:30 pm, so I’ve been doing gesture drawings from photos my ipod. I try to find seats in the library that aren’t near other people because it’d be kind of weird if someone noticed that I come in and stare at nude pictures for two hours every day, haha.

More gestures for future reference. All were 2-5 minutes, I think, and all from photos.

I don’t remember the last time I drew something with a pencil that wasn’t a gesture drawing.

Single June post! I didn’t mean to stop posting here, I just sort of forgot it existed. This sketchblog turned one year old on May 19th! I first made this sketchblog in an effort to encourage myself to draw and post something every day, no matter how small, in order to build the discipline to practice daily. I have been drawing every day for the most part of June, but it’s practice-y stuff like gesture drawings and not all worth posting here.

Here are some June doodles:

and also this:

And here are some of the gesture drawings I’ve been doing. They are all 30, 60 or 120 second sketches and they are all from photos (unfortunately).

I didn’t draw much today, but I doodled a lot. This is what I draw when I have a pencil in my hand and I turn my brain off.

Figures from the past two weeks. Most are from life, but three or four are from photos.

How … how do you character design? :/
PFFT, research is for people who want to succeed losers.

I had forgotten that when I was trying to post a sketch once a day, half the point was to build discipline. My current goal is to post here once a day for the first two weeks of May. Let’s see how this goes :/ .
